| | | Born in Israel. One of the pillars of Israeli art. Painter and sculptor. In 1968 he represented Israel in 'Documenta' in Kassel, Germany.
He burst onto international consciousness with the sheep motif in the exhibition of a flock of live sheep adorned with colorful stripes presented at the Venice Biennale (1978). In 2005, this display was reproduced as part of the exhibition "Draw me a sheep" presented at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
In 1995 he began painting portraits of his famous colored sheep.
In 2005, the film "Blue sheep" was shown at the Israeli Festival (directed by Dani Dothan and Dalia Meborach), documenting his life and work.

During his service in the army Kadishman was assigned to the first Nahal Unit established at that time. He was posted at Kibbutz Ma’ayan Baruch at the Galilee panhandle, and worked as a shepherd. His memories as a shepherd were accurately documented by his pencil and charcoal sketches. The sheep were drawn mainly around the borders of Israel, and barbed-wire fences - even sheep have international borders.
